So
of course as luck would have it, I did my third and final attempt and
what happens? My phone breaks...so I don't have any pictures this
week which is annoying. Hopefully when I go to ATT&T they can
take my pictures off but as of right now the outlooks doesn't look
great but, I'm going to try my best to be descriptive as to how the
final result turned out.
So
the ingredients we used this week were:
½
cup chopped yellow onion
1
and ½ lb ground beef
Salt
1
can cream corn
1
can condensed tomato soup
8
small/medium sized russet potatoes
½
cup 2% milk
1
egg
1
packet of brown gravy
and........
1
cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese!!!
As
with last week I did the potatoes first but then half way through I
ended up cooking up the burger and I think I have the timing pretty
spot on which is nice. Since when I first made this it literally took
me about an hour and half to make this meal! Partially it was being
lazy and another part was I didn't realize how long it would take my
stove to cook the potatoes so I think now I have found a good medium
to work with.
I
also wanted to mention that in the recipe, the person who posted it
mentions nothing about draining the burger grease, I myself do drain
it because, it's kind of gross to me but I suppose that you could
keep it in there but I don't believe that draining the grease makes
the taste any less tasty, just figured I'd put that out there.
Anyways,
to the good part, about the cheese! I didn't add the shredded cheese
on top until about 15 minutes before it was done, I figured that it
would melt nicely and not burn, (and luckily I was right!) I think
the cheese on top completes this meal, I used sharp cheddar but I
think any cheese would really do, it all should add a nice crust like
topping to your meal and cheese is always a ingredient in my book!
After all this, I definitely think this will be a once or twice a
month thing, even though I have perfected it, it still is a lot of
work to peal the potatoes, cut them, wait for the water to boil, etc.
Although, I am proud of myself for going outside my comfort zone and
attempting something I've always wanted to attempt but never really
had the drive to do until now. So until next time......

Great work, Katie. It's nice to get a somewhat more ambitious dish under your belt (that actually works as a pun, doesn't it?) that you can pull out once in awhile. I do find that making something about three times in a relatively short period is what it takes to really incorporate it into your repertoire.
ReplyDeleteThanks Roy, it's nice to know that I feel like I did this project right now, (when I first started I wasn't sure if I was doing this project correctly.) It was definitely a nice learning experience, and another dish that I don't have to force my picky boyfriend to eat hehe.
